Assistant Professor/Clinical
The Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine and the UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine is seeking a Clinician-Investigator Medical Oncologist for a Faculty Position with a focus in Breast Cancer.
The successful candidate would join a thriving multidisciplinary medical oncology practice and be able to leverage world class scientific collaborations and robust infrastructure for investigator initiated and population based clinical trials.
We expect that this individual will hold an academic appointment in the Department of Medicine. The candidate will report to the Chief of Hematology & Medical Oncology and be expected to have administrative, clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities in the Mays Cancer Center, one of the nation's NCI-Designated Cancer Centers with over a 40 year tradition of excellence in development of new cancer therapies, understanding cancer biology, and decreasing the burden of cancer in San Antonio and South Texas.
Subspecialty Medical Oncology experience/expertise in patient care and clinical trials in breast cancer is preferred and the ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to the clinical and research programs of our multidisciplinary practice. Candidates should hold an M.D. or M.D./PhD and be board certified/eligible in Medical Oncology and eligible for licensure by the Texas Medical Board.
The Breast Oncology program at the Mays Cancer Center has a long distinguished history and an extremely strong presence. A very strong basic science team helps our clinicians develop clinical trials based on in-house research. As the organizer for the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) our breast cancer team actively plays an integral role in the scientific content of the meeting.
A world premier cancer genetics program is also in place. This program is the cornerstone of our clinical and research efforts in breast cancer prevention.
