Minimally Invasive Surgeon/Bariatric Surgery

 Minimally Invasive Surgeon/ Bariatric Surgery   The Division of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, at UT Health San Antonio is seeking an academic faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to join the clinical practice. Preferred candidates will have completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery or Bariatric surgery, but it is not a requirement.  An interest in hernia repair or complex abdominal wall reconstruction is a plus. The incumbent will have a mix of general surgery, minimally invasive surgery/foregut/bariatrics, hernia repair, and flexible  endoscopy. Qualified individuals will have completed a general surgery residency and be eligible for a Texas medical license and American Board of Surgery certification.

Through UT Health San Antonio, the General/MIS Division supports our academic clinical partner, University Health Systems – a 960 bed, Level 1 Trauma and tertiary referral center.  In addition, our Division has clinical service lines at a private hospital in the South Texas Medical Center (Christus Santa Rosa) and a physician-owned private surgical hospital (Foundation Surgical Hospital).  As such, the position will include reasonable participation in emergency general surgery call rotation in the CSR system, and service-line only coverage for UHS and FSH.  Demonstrated interest and competence in teaching is essential as well as an interest in clinical research.
