Program Director – Medical Laboratory Sciences Program

Opportunity:
An outstanding leader is sought to guide the further development of an exceptional educational Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program. The Department of Health Sciences (DHS) in the School of Health Professions (SHP) offers both the entry-level BS-MLS and MS-MLS. Both programs are designed to prepare medical laboratory scientists for clinical practice as well as for leadership/management positions in the field.
The Position:
The program director will oversee the administrative operation of the programs, serve as faculty for/lead instruction of courses in MLS, and provide leadership for teaching, research, service and clinical activities. Student advisement, faculty development and ensuring programmatic accreditation are expected, along with developing and implementing the strategic vision, goals, and objectives for the programs. Teaching responsibilities include upper division undergraduate and graduate lecture and laboratory courses in hematology, clinical chemistry, toxicology, and other clinical specialties, dependent on expertise and education. The program director will report to the Chairperson, Department of Health Sciences.
Qualifications:
Candidates
are required to have professional United States certification in Medical
Laboratory Scientist (MLS(ASCP)) and at a minimum, a completed Master’s Degree
in an MLS-appropriate discipline. An
earned Doctorate in medical lab sciences, health sciences, education or a related area is preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years
experience in medical laboratory sciences including teaching and program
administration in an academic-based, NAACLS-accredited, MLS education
program. Successful candidates will have
a track record of achievement in education, a demonstrated leadership in
research and scholarship, as well as active participation or leadership in
relevant professional associations.
