Research Scientist (Neurosurgery)

Job Summary:
Responsible for planning, designing, monitoring, coordinating, analyzing and producing scientific content for clinical and regulatory documents. Manages and reviews medical writing of study protocols, statistical analysis and study reports.
Job Duties:
1. Develops, designs, and executes large and complex research projects, reviews progress, analyses data and evaluates results.
2. Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality; identifies potential problems and recommends and implements solutions.
3. Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements; collaborates in development of new techniques and instruments.
4. Organizes, maintains the laboratory, researches and recommends equipment and maintains documentation and storage of biomaterials.
5. Co-authors/authors scientific publications; presents at meetings and conferences; participates in acquiring research funding including writing grant proposals.
6. Manages and reviews medical writing of study protocols, statistical analysis and study reports.
7. Order and manage animals (mouse models of cancer)
8. Write up and submit animal protocols to IACUC for approval
9. Maintain ethical treatment of animals
10. Small animal or veterinary surgical skills (intra-cranial injections)
11. Transgenic mouse colony maintenance skills
12. Management of biohazard specimens
13. Prior experience in brain tumor research or neurobiology research using mouse models preferred
14. Ability to independently lead a research project would be preferred
15. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:
Master's degree in related field is required.
Doctorate degree is preferred.
Experience:
Two (2) years of related experience is required.
