Job Summary:
UT Health San Antonio will be implementing Epic Security as we expand our ambulatory environment and open a Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC). We are seeking an associate level analyst with knowledge or experience in Epic the space for exciting opportunities as we design, implement, test, validate and maintain Epic software. Under direct supervision, assists in defining and applying application end-user role security that supports the UT Health clinical practice. Responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, implementing, and auditing end-user security roles. Provides security consulting services to application development teams and/or customers regarding Health-IT application security standards and executing application security risk assessments. Epic training and Epic certification will be offered upon hire.
Job Duties:
- Creates and maintains Epic Provider/Resource (SER) records.
- Creates documentation of item and value configuration for provider records.
- Adheres to the organization's build, testing, and SLA standards.
- Follows standards and works with the security workgroup to develop integrated templates and address integrated dependencies.
- Fully understands Epic’s facility structure and staff-related concepts such as it relates to user logins, provider/resource build, and security. Utilizes knowledge to optimize security.
- Creates documentation of item and value configurations for provider records.
- Creates and maintains procedures for activating new users and updating existing users including steps by which users can receive login authorization, passwords, and training on proper system security.
- Regularly conducts in-depth research and provided recommendations when protocols do not currently exist for specific requests or where existing protocols or processes may be improved.
- Researches and solves problems related to user/provider security requests/tickets and assists with changes and updates to Provider security.
- Participates in audits of user access reviews.
- Communicates and works effectively with team members, supervisors, application teams, operational owners, and customers to proactively resolve tasks/assignments with limited supervision other duties as assigned
- Assists with performing analysis of business and end-user needs, assessing application configurations, documenting potential risk vectors, recommending controls, documenting requirements, and revising existing provider security as necessary under the general direction of leadership.
- Utilizes Epic experience to build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SER master files and Blue-Prints, including the development of new blueprints to improve SER creation
- Works directly with application teams and subject matter experts to validate the assignment of application access to active users.
- Adheres to all UT Health of SA standards, policies, and procedures
- Provides access-related reports for security and compliance investigations.
- Perform routine maintenance; logging, troubleshooting, and escalation of security issues as needed.
- Keep security standards up to date with the latest Epic releases, meet with all application team leads to decide on any new security updates, document decisions, configure, test, and apply security changes to production.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computing Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field is required.
Experience:
Knowledge of Epic system software security is preferred. Epic certification achieved within two (2) months of taking the Epic Application class.
