Job Summary:
UT Health San Antonio is broadening its reach in clinical care with the opening of the new UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty & Research Hospital. This eight-story 144-bed facility will offer uninterrupted patient care in one location within San Antonio, TX, the 7th largest city in the U.S.
We are excited to share an opportunity for a Director, Perioperative Services to provide strategic and administrative leadership in the areas of patient care, education, research and quality of the operating rooms, interventional radiology, endoscopy/bronchoscopy, pre-operative (day surgery) area, post anesthetic environment and oversight of the central sterile processing area that supports all procedural areas within the UTHSA Multispecialty Hospital. To develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with senior leaders and key stakeholders and across the institution. Additionally, to oversee all aspects of safe patient care, education, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Job Duties:
· Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
· Develop, secure approval of, and administer departmental policies, procedures, and create and maintain a safe procedural environment for surgical services in keeping with state, federal, and university rules and regulations.
· Work with senior leaders to prepare and administer a budget, monitor and address variances, and take action to prevent deviations.
· Prepare various departmental statistical reports to be submitted to senior leaders (services performed broken down by type of procedure, amount of time per case, incident reporting and call back) for inpatients and outpatient procedures.
· Collect and analyze data related to quality or performance improvement projects that apply to perioperative services.
· Direct the perioperative quality assurance activities and ensure compliance with patient care regulatory and departmental standards and key performance indicators.
· Cultivate a departmental culture that results in the highest levels of quality, experience and safety for patients, staff, and providers.
· Verify departmental compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards.
· Partner with all members of the multidisciplinary team to meet key performance metrics. Ensure adequate staff for efficient, effective, and safe perioperative care.
· Coordinate operating room schedule with appropriate personnel (i.e., anesthesia, physicians, nursing personnel).
· Participate in the evaluation and selection of products to be used in operating room in conjunction with members of the hospital value analysis team.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field required.
Masters’ degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Five or more years of clinical operating room experience required.
Seven or more years with demonstrated progressive management/leadership experience preferred.
Experience with complex, multi team, surgical procedures in a dynamic organization preferred.
Certifications/Licensure:
Texas RN license
Basic Life Support (BLS)
CNOR, Clinical and/or leadership certification preferred.
