Job Summary:

 

Under general supervision, responsible for performing a wide variety of medical and clinical support functions in an outpatient clinical settings. May assist with clinical and laboratory procedures, maintain equipment, provide direct patient care, and administer common medications according to unit guidelines and providers' orders. May support the documentation of patients as dictated by the physician or provider.

Job Duties:

  1. Receives/welcomes participants upon arrival and notes arrival and departure times for invoicing purposes. Handles and answers external as well as internal phone calls.
  2. Enters visit slips into tracking and invoicing system, iLab, accurately and on a timely basis.
  3. Orders supplies and maintains supply inventory and re-order list.
  4. Maintaining constant communication with all unit staff to ensure participant safety, as well as a high quality of research service.
  5. Attends required training for studies utilizing the unit to ensure clear understanding of procedures to be performed.
  6. Intakes patients by obtaining vital signs, weight, etc.
  7. Performs research procedures in accordance with the protocol and as instructed by research study teams and PIs, including phlebotomy, sample collections, EKGs, pharmacy support, etc. and completes all necessary visit documentation for tracking and invoicing purposes.
  8. Immediately report concerns to PI or study team, including dangerously elevated blood pressures, dizziness, etc. before completing research procedures; always ensure participant safety as the highest priority.
  9. Assists with scheduling research participants, always taking into consideration staff and resource availability.
  10. Prepares charts as necessary for upcoming research visits.
  11. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Education:

 

High school diploma or GED and graduation from a Medical Assistant program is required.

Experience:

 

Three (3) years of directly-related experience as a Medical Assistant is required.

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

 

CPR certification is required.


Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is preferred.
