Registered Nurse-Pediatrics (New Braunfels, TX)

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, provides direct nursing care to patients in a healthcare facility. Responsible for preparing equipment and aiding health care provider during treatment and examination of patients.

Location:  This position will be working primarily in New Braunfels, TX.  Occasionally work at UT Health San Antonio Campus.

Job Duties:

1. Demonstrates advanced skills in the delivery of physical examinations of patients, performing complex medical testing and providing interpretations of results, consulting with provider and implementing treatment plan; administers medications and injections as needed.
2. Ensures the clinic flow runs smoothly and provides supervision of the assigned Medical Assistant; works closely with assigned scheduler to ensure referrals, follow up appointments, diagnostic tests, etc. are scheduled accordingly.
3. Assists provider by preparing patients for a telehealth visit.
4. Follows-up on diagnostic tests, labs and ensures they are reported to the medical provider.
5. Refers patients as needed to appropriate specialist, consults and collaborates with other members of the health care team, schedules follow up appointments, weekly check appointments, and procedure appointments.
6. Provides health education to patients, caregivers, and/or other members of the patient care team.
7. Manages the vaccine for children clinic program.  To include inventory, equipment oversight, and compliance as required by VFC.
8. May participate in integrative health care team meetings.
9. Will collaborate with community health worker to coordinate care of patients.
10. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:

Associate’s degree is required.

Experience:

Three (3) years of professional nursing experience is required.

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

Current Texas RN license; CPR required.

Preferred:

Bachelors degree in Nursing.
