Job Summary:

UT Health San Antonio is broadening its reach in clinical care with the opening of the new UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty & Research Hospital.  This eight-story 144-bed facility will offer uninterrupted patient care in one location within San Antonio, TX, the 7th largest city in the U.S. We are excited to share an opportunity for a Strategic HR Partner, responsible for providing advice and leadership to leaders and staff. The Strategic HR Partner will collaborate with various internal customers and stakeholders in our Multispecialty & Research Hospital and Mays Cancer Center to help lead and drive change management, leadership development, workforce strategy, strategic staffing, organizational design, talent development, employee engagement, and employee relations. The Strategic HR Partner will formulate effective partnerships to deliver value-added services to management and employees.

Job Duties: 

  • Attends regularly scheduled meetings with respective business units.
  • Consults with management, providing HR guidance and interpretation when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with HRIS to develop solutions, programs and policies/procedures.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve working relationship, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Collaborates effectively with a variety of stakeholders across the institution.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree is highly preferred. 

Experience: 

  • Seven (7) years of professional (exempt) level HR experience in an healthcare environment is required.
  • Must have experience in employee relations, compliance, and employment law.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Joint commission experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in an hospital setting is highly preferred. 

Additional Licenses and Certifications: 

  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP is preferred.
